Trilobites were among the most successful and diverse creatures in Earth’s history, flourishing in ancient seas for over 270 million years. This Authentic Morocops Trilobite, originating from the Issoumour region of Morocco, is a beautifully preserved fossil from the Lower Devonian period and offers a glimpse into the distant past.

Named for their three-lobed exoskeleton, trilobites were highly adaptable marine creatures that played an essential role in early ecosystems. They had jointed legs for movement, a tough calcified exoskeleton for defense, and compound eyes with thousands of tiny lenses, giving them an incredibly sharp sense of sight. Some species were predators, while others were scavengers, filtering detritus from the ocean floor.

As they grew, trilobites underwent a fascinating process known as molting, in which they shed their outer shell to accommodate their increasing size.
